Sent:Tuesday, May 18, 2010 7:58 AM Subject: VENUE Change - SKIDPAN Day Sunday 23 May
All MGCC NC Members
Please take note of the Skidpan Day Venue change - no longer at Zwartkops Raceway.
Skidpan Day has moved to new venue - Traffic College Boekenhoutkloof in Pretoria West.
Below is the message from Bill Flynn with all the details. George has asked that MG members who want to travel in convoy to meet at our Clubhouse on Sunday the 23rd of May at 08hr30 to leave at 09hr00.
We will have directions ready to hand out, but the easiest route will probably be:
Please note the arrangements for the day and the cost of only R30 per entrant.
Do remember to bring your refreshments, picnic baskets, chairs and an umbrella.
We are looking forward to seeing even more of our members attending this fun Club Event.
Best Regards

Our original arrangements for the Skidpan Fun day had gone slipping and sliding all over the place as Zwartkops’ costs escalated way out of control.
Now for the good news.
Thanks to organizer Jaco van Vuuren, and with the help of Triumph member Terry Murphy, we have a GREAT NEW VENUE only 26kms from our Lyttleton Clubhouse, (and almost free of charge).
Terry Murphy is from the SAP and together with the help from his friends at Road Traffic Management Corporation, as part of their Road Safety Initiative, have arranged the day and venue as follows:
VENUE: TRAFFIC COLLEGE BOEKENHOUTKLOOF – West of Pretoria
TIME: To start at 10am
COST: R30.00
GPS Co-Ordinates: S25.71263 °
E28.07780 °
TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS:
Triumph Club members meet at our Triumph Clubhouse on Kruger Ave, Lyttleton Bowls club at 9am for leaving at 9:15am. The distance is 26kms and should take 41 mins.
MG club members very welcome to join us in convoy from our clubhouse or meet us at the entrance gate of the Traffic College at 10am.
DIRECTIONS:
Drive out on CHURCH Street (West) until you turn right at TRANS-ORANJE Str. (R55), past Danville and through the Daspoort Tunnel. This becomes Bremmer Str. as you exit the tunnel.
Now turn left at a traffic light into VAN DER HOFF Rd., go down Van Der Hoff for about 3.9 kms, and turn RIGHT at traffic light into M17 HORNSNEK Rd. This is also known as the old MAHEM STADIUM CROSSING, over the old railway track (also signage towards Ga-Rankuwa).
Drive on M17 for 1.9 kms and turn LEFT towards BOEKENHOUTKLOOF. See the TRAFFIC COLLEGE sign. This is now KENNETH Rd.
After 1km turn LEFT into SANDUI Rd. also see sign VERKEERSKOLLEGE.
Go for 1.2 kms and stop at the Main Entrance Gate of DEPT. OF COMMUNITY SAFETY.
(Here our cars may be security searched, so please nothing “illegal”)
As this is a Traffic Safety Area, we should, out of respect, and being law abiding citizens, have no alcohol before or during the event. (I don’t see a problem with maybe one beer afterwards, maybe.)
Jaco and Terry will have a Driving Course set up for our enjoyment, with prizes for both Classic and “Plastic” cars as well as prizes for Lady and Men drivers.
This should take about 3 hours, then we will break for a picnic lunch and prize giving. (There is no rush to go straight home after the driving is finished as the venue is ours for the day.)
The Venue is great, with ablutions for Ladies and Gents, but limited grass and shady trees, so if everyone can bring along their own tables, chairs, umbrellas and picnic lunch it will be great.
Lets all go out and enjoy our cars with our ladies
